About Me

A Lifelong Passion Turned Profession

From as early as I can remember, horses have been at the center of my world. While other kids played with dolls, I spent my time setting up elaborate courses for my Breyer horses or jumping my first pony, Ginger, over logs in the yard. By age 5, I had my own pony, and by 9, I was riding Harley—my dad’s tough, opinionated horse who quickly became my constant companion and biggest teacher. Harley taught me resilience, patience, and the value of building trust with a horse, even when it wasn’t easy.

Early Training Experience

My love for understanding and working with horses naturally evolved into training. I got my first taste of starting horses at a local ranch and soon after took on my own project horse, Deeva. Training Deeva from a weanling to a finished horse sparked something in me—a deep appreciation for building a language and partnership with a horse, guiding them gently and thoughtfully into our human world. Together, we competed successfully, even earning champion at the county level 4H program and placing third at state.

Education & Professional Development

I attended North Dakota State University, where my passion for horses followed me through various majors, ultimately earning a degree in Marketing with a minor in Equine Science. I also became a certified horse trainer, specializing in Natural Horsemanship techniques. These gentle, non-violent methods focus on communication, trust, and understanding between horse and rider—an approach that has deeply influenced my training philosophy.

After college, I gained hands-on experience working at a professional show barn, managing a large number of horses and ensuring their peak health and performance. This experience taught me the importance of daily care, routine, and how fundamental a calm, well-structured environment is to maintaining a horse’s trainable mindset.

The Birth of OMW Equine

Though I explored careers in marketing, I never strayed far from training horses—taking on client horses and starting young prospects on the side. It became clear that my true calling was in connecting with horses and sharing that process with others. That’s what led to the creation of OMW Equine—an on-site horse training service designed to meet horses and owners where they’re most comfortable: at home.

This dream has been over three years in the making, blending my passion for horses, travel, and helping others feel more connected to their horses’ training journey.

What Makes OMW Equine Different

I believe one of the biggest gaps in the horse industry today is the lack of transparency between trainers and horse owners. Too often, clients only see the polished results—not the real, day-to-day progress or challenges that come with training.

At OMW Equine, my goal is to close that gap. By training your horse at your farm or ranch, or videoing and offering narrative, you can witness every step—the breakthroughs and the setbacks—giving you a better understanding of your horse’s growth. You’re free to ask questions, observe patterns, and feel confident continuing the work after training is complete.

Continued Learning

I believe great horse training starts with a mindset of lifelong learning — and that’s exactly what I bring to every session. Each day is an opportunity to grow, both as a trainer and a person. I’m committed to continually expanding my knowledge so I can bring the very best to the horses and owners I work with.

My approach is rooted in proven horsemanship philosophies, and I actively study the work of respected trainers like Tik Maynard, Ken McNabb, Ray Hunt and Josh Nichol. I don’t just read about these methods — I attend clinics, watch live and recorded demonstrations, and apply what I learn directly into my program.

As a current member of the NF+ training platform, I stay connected to a community of forward-thinking horsemen and women, learning new techniques and refining my practice through ongoing education. This dedication means your horse benefits from a thoughtful, up-to-date approach that’s based on clear communication, trust, and lasting results.

When you choose me as your trainer, you’re not just hiring someone with experience — you’re partnering with someone who is fully invested in growing, evolving, and giving your horse the best foundation possible.

Outside of Horses

When I’m not riding or training, you’ll likely find me hiking new trails with my corgi-beagle mix, Trixie, or at the gym focusing on strength, mobility, and fitness—all essential tools for becoming the best rider and trainer possible. I’m also a dedicated runner, using long miles to build mental resilience and physical awareness, both of which translate directly into my approach with horses.

Training is about more than just results—it’s about creating a connection, fostering understanding, and developing skills that last. I look forward to helping you and your horse achieve just that.
